Description

Infuse your growing space with a brilliant burst of tropical color and irresistible candy-sweet perfume with the Vanda Pinky Orchid Plant (Vanda falcata × Rhynchostylis gigantea). This exceptional intergeneric hybrid beautifully merges the compact, cold-tolerant nature of Vanda falcata with the massive, densely packed blooming power of Rhynchostylis gigantea. Grown bareroot on a plastic mount, its cascading root system and exploding flower spikes make a spectacular, exotic statement.

✨ Key Features

  • Intense "Sweet Tarts" Fragrance: Delight your senses with a potent, sweet aroma that fills the air, frequently compared to citrusy candy or "Sweet Tarts".

  • Dense, Head-Turning Clusters: Rather than sparse, giant individual flowers, it produces a tightly packed, arching bouquet of waxy, long-lasting miniature blooms.

  • Vivid Coloration & Veining: The petals display a brilliant magenta-pink hue with unique vertical veining and a deeply coloured, textured lip accented by crisp white splashes.

  • Cool to Warm Season Blooming: It naturally initiates flower spikes during the cooler winter months, remaining in full bloom well into spring.

🌿 Care Guide

To keep your Vanda Pinky healthy and blooming multiple times a year, mimic its native tropical canopy environment:

  • ☀️ Light Requirements: Provide 3 to 5 hours of strong, indirect sunlight daily. Filtered light on an east- or west-facing balcony is perfect; avoid harsh, direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorch. Healthy leaves should remain a medium, grassy green—dark green signals too little light, while yellow or reddish tints mean too much sun.

  • 💧 Watering & Moisture (The "Bare Root" Rule): These are epiphytic plants that thrive without soil. Keep them mounted or growing loosely in an open slatted basket to ensure perfect aeration. Thoroughly spray or drench the roots daily during hot, dry periods. Water until the silvery, dry roots turn entirely translucent green, confirming they have absorbed maximum hydration. Always water early in the morning so stagnant moisture trapped between the leaves evaporates before nightfall to prevent crown rot.

  • 🌡️ Temperature, Humidity & Airflow: Thrives in daytime temperatures between 20°C and 35°C, making it exceptionally well-suited for warm subtropical regions. Maintain high ambient humidity levels of 60%–80% using a humidifier or a wet gravel tray if your location is dry. Constant, gentle air movement is mandatory to prevent fungal infections and bacterial leaf spot.
