Description

Vanda limbata sp. is a fascinating and highly distinct pure species orchid native to the tropical islands of Indonesia, particularly Java, Flores, Timor, and Sumbawa. Deeply prized by collectors for its uncommon color palette and exotic wild charm, this epiphytic gem stands out from typical hybrids with its compact strap-leaf fan structure and fragrance of cinnamon.

🌸 Flower Specialty
  • Showcases an incredible, warm chestnut brown to glossy copper-colored background overlaid with a subtle network of darker stripes, which dynamically contrasts against a bright white to pale purple-pink lip.
  • Highly celebrated for producing a soft, delightfully sweet fragrance reminiscent of cinnamon. The long-lasting flowers emerge in graceful clusters and stay pristine for several weeks at a time.
  • Naturally thrives in warm, tropical, and highly humid monsoon forest ecosystems.
🌿 Care Guide
  • Demands bright, indirect sunlight with high light intensity to trigger successful flower spikes. Filtered morning or late afternoon sun is perfect, but keep it safely shielded from harsh, scorching midday summer rays.
  • Must be watered with extreme care to keep its sturdy aerial root system healthy. Give it an abundant supply of water but allow the roots to dry rapidly; mist or soak bare roots daily until they turn a healthy green. Always prevent water from pooling or remaining stagnant inside the leaf crown overnight to avoid rot.
  • Thrives in a hot-to-warm environment, As a true epiphyte, it strictly prefers to grow without substrate—hanging bare-root in open wooden baskets or mounted where air can freely circulate around the roots.
