Description
Bring an enchanting celestial display and a captivating night-scented perfume into your collection with the Vanda Darwinara Charm 'Blue Star'. This vigorous, compact hybrid inherits its elegant, star-like form from its Vanda falcata lineage. An absolute joy for home growers, it packs a massive punch of rare jewel-toned color into a space. A cross between Neof. falcata x Vasco. Tham Yuen Hae.
✨ Flower Specialties
-
Rare Star Shapes: Bears delicate, spur-shaped, star-like clusters that inherit their elegant posture directly from the Vanda falcata parent.
-
Vibrant Indigo Color: Despite its name, the waxy petals display a rich, captivating mix of intense indigo, violet, and deep purple tones.
-
Intoxicating Jasmine Fragrance: The blossoms emit a sweet, strong perfume resembling fresh jasmine mixed with light citrus. The fragrance peaks from early evening through the night.
-
Frequent Bloomer: This vigorous hybrid is an exuberant bloomer, flushing with multiple flower spikes 1 to 2 times a year, typically between spring and autumn.
🌿Care Guide
This tough, adaptable orchid can be grown either bare-root or potted, making it incredibly versatile for indoor environments:
-
☀️ Light: Give the plant bright, indirect sunlight (an east window or a shielded south exposure is ideal). Guard it against harsh, burning midday sun.
-
💧 Watering: * Bare Root / Basket: Spray or soak the roots daily during warm seasons for 10–15 minutes until they turn translucent green.
-
Potted in Media: If grown in a chunky orchid bark mix, water thoroughly once or twice a week, allowing the medium to dry out almost completely between waterings.
-
-
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity: Prefers intermediate to warm household temperatures between 18°C and 29°C. Maintain high ambient humidity between 60% to 80% and ensure constant, excellent airflow around the roots to prevent rot.
-
🧪 Fertilizer: Use a balanced, water-soluble orchid fertilizer weekly at one-quarter strength from spring through summer. Flush the pot with plain water once a month to clear salt buildup, and reduce feeding to once a month in winter.
