Phalaenopsis Care Guide

Phalaenopsis orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Flowering require bright indirect light. Learn more about light here

 Watering

Please be careful with the watering as the Sphagnum moss medium retains too much moisture. The medium could take up to a week to dry. Other medium like Pine bark dries within 1 or 2 days. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

Description

The Phalaenopsis Rusty is a magnificent, highly sought-after hybrid orchid prized for its superb, rusty peach-orange-rust miniature flowers. This highly floriferous variety has an incredible capacity to produce an abundance of flowers on multiple spikes as it matures, making it a cute and captivating tabletop or windowsill display. It makes a luxurious, visually stunning statement piece for any home, bright office, or orchid collection.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Rare Sunset Palette: Displays an elegant, superb blend of soft peach, copper, rusty orange, and warm salmon tones highlighted by a contrasting magenta lip.

  • High Bud Count: Just like most miniatures, this variety is highly floriferous, bursting with an abundance of symmetrical blooms along heavy, branching spikes.

  • Exceptional Longevity: Individual flower spikes are highly resilient, remaining in full bloom and pristine condition for 2 to 3 months at a time.

  • Non-Toxic: The plant is entirely safe and pet-friendly for homes with dogs and cats.

🪴Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light & Placement: Phalaenopsis orchids thrive as indoor plants when given sufficient light. Provide bright, indirect sunlight (an east- or shaded west-facing windowsill is ideal). Avoid sharp noon sun, which can scorch foliage and bleach the sunset petals.

  • 💧 Watering & Humidity: Follow a careful wet-to-dry cycle, as orchid mediums retain moisture. Touch and feel the medium; water thoroughly only when it feels nearly dry (this could take up to a week). Check the roots—water if they look silvery-grey, but wait if they are bright green. Always water in the morning and keep water out of the center crown to prevent fatal rot.

  • 🌡️ Air & Temperature: Maintain warm household temperatures between 18°C and 32°C with good air circulation. Keep humidity above 50% and avoid cold AC vents or dry heating drafts to prevent early bud drop (bud blast). Easily boost local humidity by placing the pot over a shallow pebble tray with water.

Kindly note, the orchid images presented here capture blooms nurtured under optimal conditions. Variations in appearance can and do occur as a response to environmental conditions, most notably factors such as ambient temperature, the type of fertilizer used, and light exposure. We sincerely appreciate your understanding that each orchid bloom is unique, reflecting its own individual beauty that may differ from the sample images shown.
