Phalaenopsis Care Guide

Phalaenopsis orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Flowering require bright indirect light. Learn more about light here

 Watering

Please be careful with the watering as the Sphagnum moss medium retains too much moisture. The medium could take up to a week to dry. Other medium like Pine bark dries within 1 or 2 days. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

Description

The Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi 'Red' sp. is a rare, highly fascinating species native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and India. Famed for its unique, antler-like flower spikes and easy-to-grow nature, this exotic orchid is perfectly suited for indoor cultivation. Whether grown on a bright windowsill or as a mounted specimen, its endlessly repeating, high-gloss blooms make it a true jewel for any plant collector.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Antler-Shaped Spikes: Features distinctly flat and notched flower stems that look exactly like deer antlers.

  • Never-Ending Blooms: A truly remarkable habit where the plant produces flowers one after another on the same stem, allowing a single spike to continue blooming for years.

  • Lacquered Waxy Finish: The beautiful star-shaped flowers are a deep red with thick, waxy, and highly reflective petals that look as if they were painted with glossy nail polish.

  • Exceptional Longevity: Each individual bloom stays fresh, crisp, and absolutely perfect on the stem for many weeks.

🪴Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light & Placement: Thrives indoors given sufficient light and good air circulation. Provide bright, indirect sunlight (like a window with a sheer curtain) while strictly avoiding harsh, direct sun to prevent leaf burn.

  • 💧 Smart Watering:

    • If Potted: Check the mix and water thoroughly only when it feels almost dry. Clear plastic pots are excellent—water only when the roots turn a silvery-gray color, and never let the plant sit in a puddle of water.

    • If Mounted: Water the plant every single day without fail, as a mounted setup lacks medium to retain moisture.

  • 🌡️ Temperature & Humidity: Keep warm all year round between 20°C and 32°C. It loves high humidity (above 60%). Use a humidification tray or a room humidifier if your indoor air runs dry.

Kindly note, the orchid images presented here capture blooms nurtured under optimal conditions. Variations in appearance can and do occur as a response to environmental conditions, most notably factors such as ambient temperature, the type of fertilizer used, and light exposure. We sincerely appreciate your understanding that each orchid bloom is unique, reflecting its own individual beauty that may differ from the sample images shown.

Beautiful and thriving.

Long-time fan and customer here -- Highly recommend the cornu cervi. Red.. a species phalaenopsis that is ALSO easy-to-grow. Has been putting out a set of new roots in the past month already. This one also seems to be more forgiving of low humidity in comparison to phal. hybrids.
