Phalaenopsis Care Guide

Phalaenopsis orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Flowering require bright indirect light. Learn more about light here

 Watering

Please be careful with the watering as the Sphagnum moss medium retains too much moisture. The medium could take up to a week to dry. Other medium like Pine bark dries within 1 or 2 days. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

Description

Meet the spectacular Phalaenopsis Beauty Butterfly, an extraordinary peloric hybrid bred from the outstanding cross of Phal. Fong's Tien's Butterfly × Phal. Mount Beauty. Renowned for its distinctive "Big Lip" structural mutation, striking color zoning, and incredible bloom longevity, this variety brings effortless elegance to any orchid collection.

🌸 Flower Specialty

  • The "Big Lip" Mutation: Features a mutated labellum that flattens out to match the size, shape, and pattern of the side petals, giving the bloom a round, flat, and perfectly symmetrical form.

  • Striking Color Contrast: Displays intense color zoning, pairing a vivid canary-yellow or snowy white base with a rich carmine-red or deep magenta center.

  • Exceptional Longevity: Individual flowers stay pristine on the stem for 8 to 12 weeks, ranking among the longest-lasting orchid blooms.

  • Sequential Blooming: Mature flower spikes branch out to produce dozens of buds that open sequentially, extending the blooming display for several months.

🌿 Care Guide

  • Parentage Legacy: Combines the symmetrical butterfly form of Phal. Fong's Tien's Butterfly with the robust vigor and beauty of Phal. Mount Beauty.

  • Light: Position in bright, indirect light near an east- or shaded south-facing window; avoid direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorching.

  • Watering: Water thoroughly only when roots turn silvery-grey, and hold off if they remain bright green. Ensure complete drainage so the plant never sits in standing water.

  • Temperature & Reblooming: Maintain daytime temperatures between 21°C and 29°C. Expose the plant to a slight drop at night (15°C to 18°C) in autumn to stimulate fresh flower spikes.

  • Humidity: Thrives in 50% to 70% humidity—use a pebble tray with water to enhance moisture around the plant without soaking the roots.

Kindly note, the orchid images presented here capture blooms nurtured under optimal conditions. Variations in appearance can and do occur as a response to environmental conditions, most notably factors such as ambient temperature, the type of fertilizer used, and light exposure. We sincerely appreciate your understanding that each orchid bloom is unique, reflecting its own individual beauty that may differ from the sample images shown.
