Dendrobium Care Guide

Dendrobium orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Plants grown under ideal light will have apple green leaves and plants which are not getting enough light will have dark green leaves. Learn more about light here

 Watering

In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark.  Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Fertilizing your orchid regularly provides it with the nutrients it needs for optimal health, immunity and vigorous blooming. Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

The Dendrobium Hibiki is a magnificent, highly sought-after hybrid orchid—an impressive cross between Den. bracteosum and Den. laevifolium. Famed for its breathtakingly vivid floral displays and unique flowering habits, this compact variety features canes that rarely grow taller than 8 inches. This warm growing plant is an exceptional performer indoors and can be grown with great success in conditions similar to Cattleyas, making it a luxurious, visually captivating addition to any home, bright office, or orchid collection.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Vibrant Color Contrast: Displays brilliant, eye catching clusters of vivid, bright magenta pink petals beautifully accented by a striking, fiery orange lip.

  • Extreme Longevity: Individual blooms are exceptionally resilient and can remain open, pristine, and fresh on the plant for an astonishing 3 to 5 months.

  • Heavy Bloomer: Known for its prolific blooming capacity, floral clusters emerge directly from both older, mature pseudobulbs and brand-new growths simultaneously.

  • Constant Renewal: With proper care, this variety can bloom multiple times throughout the year, often remaining in near-constant flower.

🪴 Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light & Placement: Provide medium to bright indirect sunlight (an east-facing window or a shaded south-facing window is ideal).

  • 🌡️ Temperature: As a warm-growing orchid perfect for warmer climates, it thrives in daytime environments between 24°C and 30°C, with cooler night drops around 18°C to 21°C.

  • 💧 Watering: Keep the potting medium evenly moist during periods of active growth. Allow the very top layer of the media to dry slightly before watering thoroughly again. Reduce watering slightly in the winter, but never let the canes shrivel completely.

  • 🌬️ Humidity & Air: Flourishes in relative humidity levels between 50% to 70% paired with consistent, gentle ambient air movement around the foliage.
