Cattleya orchids are very sturdy and can take a lot of abuse from those who tend to forget to water. They are also tolerant of several temperature ranges.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Plants grown under ideal light will have apple green leaves and plants which are not getting enough light will have dark green leaves. Learn more about light here

In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark.  Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. 🪴Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light: Thrives in high, bright indirect sunlight (perfect for east windows or shaded south/west windows). Leaves should remain a healthy light-medium green. Dark green indicates too little light, while purple-tinged edges mean too much sun.

  • 💧 Watering: Follow a strict wet-to-dry cycle. Water thoroughly once every 7 to 10 days by flushing room-temperature water through the substrate, then allow the medium to dry out completely before watering again. Never use ice.

  • 🌡️ Climate & Airflow: Prefers daytime temperatures between 21°C to 36°C and a night drop to around 15°C to 18°C. Maintain moderate-to-high humidity (50% to 80%) and provide continuous, gentle air movement to keep the foliage healthy.
