Cattleya orchids are very sturdy and can take a lot of abuse from those who tend to forget to water. They are also tolerant of several temperature ranges.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Plants grown under ideal light will have apple green leaves and plants which are not getting enough light will have dark green leaves. Learn more about light here 

 Watering

In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark.  Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. Fertilizing

🌿 Care Guide

  • Light: Requires medium to bright filtered light (2,500–3,000 foot-candles). An east-facing window or shaded south-facing window is ideal; protect from scorching afternoon sun.

  • Watering Strategy: Follow a drought-tolerant cycle water thoroughly only when the medium dries out completely. Check root color (gray / shriveled means thirsty; plump green/white means hydrated).

  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm conditions, preferring 21°C–35°C (70°F–85°F) by day with a slight 10°F drop at night to encourage future blooming.
