Cattleya orchids are very sturdy and can take a lot of abuse from those who tend to forget to water. They are also tolerant of several temperature ranges.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Plants grown under ideal light will have apple green leaves and plants which are not getting enough light will have dark green leaves. Learn more about light here 

 Watering

In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark.  Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. 🌿 Care Guide
  • Requires bright, indirect sunlight to trigger its signature heavy clustering. A bright east or shielded south-facing window is perfect, but ensure it is protected from harsh, direct midday rays to avoid leaf scorching.
  • Follow a disciplined wet-to-dry cycle. Water the root system thoroughly, then allow the coarse, well-draining orchid potting medium (such as medium-grade fir bark or charcoal) to completely dry out before watering again. Never let the roots sit in stagnant, waterlogged conditions.
  • Thrives in intermediate to warm conditions, ideally maintaining daytime temperatures between 18°C and 35°C. It adapts beautifully to normal household temperature fluctuations but should be shielded from freezing winter drafts and extreme heatwaves.
