Cattleya Care Guide
Cattleya Care Guide
Cattleya orchids are very sturdy and can take a lot of abuse from those who tend to forget to water. They are also tolerant of several temperature ranges.

Watering
In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant. Learn more about watering here
Fertilizing
Fertilizing your orchid regularly provides it with the nutrients it needs for optimal health, immunity and vigorous blooming. Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

- Breathtaking, large golden-yellow petals and sepals contrasted by a massive, intensely velvety crimson-red ruffled lip featuring subtle golden veins in the throat.
- Strong spikes carrying clusters of large, heavily textured flowers (up to 12–15 cm across). A single bloom cycle generally lasts a spectacular 2 to 4 weeks.
- Thrives in intermediate to warm tropical environments, preferring a stable relative humidity range between 50% and 75% with excellent air circulation.
- Requires bright, filtered sunlight (about 35% sun and 65% shade). An east- or protected south/west-facing window is ideal; the thick leaves should ideally stay a light, healthy green rather than dark forest green to trigger optimal blooming.
- Prefers a distinct wet-to-dry routine. Water the potting medium (ideally a chunky fir bark or charcoal mix) thoroughly, then allow it to dry out almost completely before watering again. Never let the pseudobulbs sit in stagnant water.
- Performs beautifully in daytime temperatures between 21°C to 35°C (70°F to 85°F). To reliably initiate its flowering sheaths, it benefits from a natural nighttime temperature drop down to 13°C to 18°C (55°F to 65°F).
