Philodendron Congo Red (Large Plant)

Make a bold tropical statement in your home or office with Philodendron Congo Red! Highly prized for its dynamic, color changing foliage and tidy, self heading form, this low maintenance aroid brings rich burgundy hues and lush tropical vibes without taking over your space or needing support!

🌿 Plant Specialties

• Color Changing Foliage: New leaves emerge in a striking, glossy burgundy red or deep copper tone. As they mature, they transition into dark emerald green while thick petioles (leaf stems) permanently retain a deep reddish purple hue.

• Self Heading, Non Vining Form: A self supporting, shrubby plant that grows compactly from a central clump, developing a sturdy base that never requires a moss pole or trellis to stay upright.

• Low-Maintenance Decor: Perfect for indoor tabletops, desks, or floor displays, offering striking color contrast against standard green house plants.

🌿 Care Guide

• ☀️ Light & Positioning: Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight (e.g., near east-facing windows or set back from south/west windows). Tolerates lower light, though growth slows and new leaves may emerge dull green rather than vibrant red. Protect from harsh direct afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorching.

• 💧 Watering: Water thoroughly once the top 50% of the soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure proper drainage so roots are never left sitting in stagnant water.

• 🌱 Soil & Potting: Thrives in a rich, airy, well-draining potting mix (such as a mixture of indoor potting soil, perlite, and coarse bark pieces).

• 🌡️ Temperature & Humidity: Enjoys warm room temperatures between 18°C and 28°C with moderate to high indoor humidity.
