The Grammatophyllum scriptum var citrinum sp. is a magnificent, highly sought-after epiphyte species native to Borneo, the Philippines, Fiji, and New Guinea. Famed for its outstanding and dramatic floral displays, this variety can produce dozens of superb, out-of-this-world lime green flowers on towering spikes. Over time, these robust growers develop into wonderful, massive specimen plants, making a luxurious, visually captivating statement piece for any bright home, spacious office, or orchid collection.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Rare Citron Palette: Displays superb, lime green to pure yellow-green and pale gold waxy petals beautifully contrasted by a light green and white lip.

  • Massive Flower Count: The dramatic cascading inflorescence is exceptionally long, holding from 60 to well over 100 fragrant flowers on a single mature spike.

  • Imposing Size: A true showstopper, the flower spikes regularly reach an impressive 2 to 5 feet (1 to 1.5 meters) in length.

  • Incredible Longevity: Individual blossoms boast an incredibly thick, waxy texture, allowing the blooms to stay fresh, pristine, and beautiful on the plant for 8 to 12 weeks (up to 3+ months).

  • Morning Fragrance: Emits a delightful, sweet fragrance when exposed to warm, bright morning sunlight.

🪴Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light & Temperature: Grammatophyllum plants perform best when provided with excellent, bright indirect sunlight (similar to Cattleya requirements). They tolerate direct morning sun, but midday sun will scorch the leaves. These plants love warm-to-hot environments between 24°C and 35°C, and must be kept above 15°C at night with no exposure to frost.

  • 💧 Watering & Feeding: These orchids love a warm and moist environment. Drench the plant heavily 2–3 times a week during active summer growth, and cut back to once every 7–10 days in winter. For best results and massive growth, apply a balanced orchid fertilizer every other time you water.

  • 🌬️ Humidity & Air: Flourishes in high atmospheric humidity levels between 60% and 80%. Ensure strong, continuous air circulation around the thick foliage to prevent fungal spots on the leaves.
