Anthurium Care Guide

Anthurium is a shade loving plant can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Flowering require bright indirect light. Learn more about light here

 Watering

Please be careful with the watering as the peat based medium retains too much moisture. The medium could take up to a week to dry. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

Add an exotic touch of glossy, long-lasting color to your indoor space with the Anthurium Purple. Celebrated for its unique, metallic-purple spadix and beautifully transitioning heart-shaped spathe, this tropical native is an absolute powerhouse of continuous blooms. Extremely resilient and highly efficient at purifying indoor air, it serves as an effortlessly elegant and low-maintenance statement piece for modern homes and office spaces alike.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Distinct Two-Tone Spathe: Features a heart-shaped, modified leaf (spathe) that elegantly transitions from a fresh pale green base into soft, waxy pinkish-purple tones.

  • Striking Purple Spadix: The defining highlight of this variety is its prominent, upright central spike (spadix) displaying a rich, deep violet-purple texture.

  • Exceptional Bloom Longevity: Unlike typical flowers that fade in days, a single Anthurium bloom can retain its vivid color and structure for 6 to 8 weeks indoors.

  • Year-Round Flowering: Under proper indoor conditions, a healthy plant does not have a single blooming season—it continuously pushes out new flowers throughout the entire year.

🌿Care Guide

To keep your Anthurium Purple thriving and pumping out new flowers, mimic the warm, humid environment of its native tropical rainforest understory:

  • ☀️ Light Requirements: Provide bright, heavily filtered, indirect sunlight. Perfect placements include close to an east-facing window or slightly set back from a bright south/west window. Avoid direct midday sun at all costs, as it will instantly scorch the glossy foliage. Tip: If the plant stops blooming, it is likely signaling a need for slightly more indirect light.

  • 💧 Watering & Root Health: Water thoroughly only when the top 2 to 5 cm (1 to 2 inches) of the potting medium feels entirely dry to the touch. Ensure all excess water drains freely out of the bottom holes; never allow the pot to sit in standing water, as stagnant moisture causes fatal root rot. Reduce watering frequency slightly during the cooler winter months.

  • 🪵 Potting Media: Anthuriums are semi-epiphytic in nature and demand exceptional root aeration. Grow exclusively in a highly porous, chunky, well-draining mixture—a combination of peat moss, perlite, pine bark chips, and charcoal works perfectly. Never use heavy, dense garden soil.

  • 🌡️ Temperature, Humidity & Airflow: Maintain consistent indoor room temperatures between 18°C and 28°C. Protect the plant from sudden temperature drops, drafty windows, and direct air conditioning vents. Thrives best in moderate to high humidity (50% to 75%). If your home runs dry, place the pot over a humidifying water-and-pebble tray or group it closely with other plants.
