 Arundina graminifolia 'Bamboo Orchid' is a perennial, large sized terrestrial orchid native to southeast Asia, New Guinea, Panama, Belize & Hawaii, recognized for its reedy stems and ability to form large clumps. This orchid typically reaches a height ranging between 70 cm and 2 m and blooms during the summer and autumn months. Its showy terminal flowers are displayed in open clusters, with a maximum of ten at a time. These flowers, which are 5-8 cm in diameter, boast a rosy lilac and white disc with a purple lip and appear in succession on 7 to 16 cm long terminal racemes. These plants are medium-sized, and not ready to bloom.

In certain regions of east Malaysia, a highland variety of this orchid is used as a vegetable, where the flower is stir-fried and said to have a taste similar to bitter gourd. That would mean that this species is found in abundance and blooms a lot in this part of the world.

Studies have suggested this orchid to have anticancer, antioxidant, antidepressant, antiviral, anti-lipid peroxidation, antibacterial, and anti-hemolytic properties.
