Description

Vanda sanderiana is a rare and stunning color form of Vanda native to the Philippines. It is commonly called Waling-waling in the Philippines and is also called Sander's Vanda, after Henry Frederick Conrad Sander, a noted orchidologist. It takes many years to grow these magnificent plants to flowering size, but the gorgeous two-toned blooms they produce can last really long. You can even enjoy flowers in both spring and fall! This rare species of Vanda is a must-have in any collection.

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchids must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Saturate the roots with water every time you water them, which means the roots should turn green and retain a drop of water at the tip. Watering of these Vandas must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns ( top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot.
