Short Description: Vanda (Aerides) houlletiana is a species native to Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. This species blooms in May-June. Flowers are thick and waxy, with the fragrance of lemon and spice. Long-lasting yellow with reddish-purple colored flowers, three-dimensional flowers, therefore it is not easy to see any spaces between flowers on the inflorescence.
The word "Aerides" is also the common name of the Tower of the Winds in Athens, Greece. The name of the genus refers to the epiphytic growth habit of the species and literally means "air-plant"
These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchid must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Saturate the roots with water overtime your water, which means the roots should turn green and retain a drop of water at the tip. Watering of this Vandas must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns ( top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot.
