Sobennikoffia robusta is a species native to Madagascar, also called the Angraecum robustum, It grows on or at the foot of trees and shrubs in woody areas with sandy soil in a region where they experience a long dry season and most of the moisture comes from early-morning dew. An epiphyte or semi-lithophytic vandaceous orchid. Blooms in the spring on a 30 to 40 cm long, arching inflorescence with spicy, pleasingly fragrant flowers. Initially, flowers are white, but become yellowish with age, green in the centre of the flowers. The long-spurs make the flowers very exquisite. 

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchid roots must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Watering of this Vandaceous species must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns (top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot.
