Paphiopedilum philippinense sp. is one of the best multi-floral species. The flower had excellent shape and size and had nice dark contrasting veins. Plants are found growing in leaf mulch, mossy rocks, and on trees in Islands north of Borneo, Guimaras Island, Provinces Negros, Augusan, Surigao del Norte, Mindinao, and Palawan of the Philippines. This species does not grow new roots quickly.

Paphiopedilum orchids are also called ladies' slipper orchids as the lip of the flower resembles a lady's shoe. Paphiopedilums flower on each new growth once matures, with the older growths remaining on the plant to provide energy for the new plants. Older growths will eventually die off as new growths continue to emerge.
