Oncidium Care Guide

The Oncidium family is very large and includes many flower varieties. Most of them flowers in Spring and Fall.

  Light

Oncidium orchids grow well under medium light. However certain hybrids from Thailand can even grown in bright indirect light. Learn more about light here

 Watering

Please be careful with the watering as the Sphagnum moss medium retains too much moisture. The medium could take up to a week to dry. Other medium like Pine bark dries within 1 or 2 days. Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

Description

Short Description: Flowers are a shade of deep red with orange lip. This is one of the easiest orchids to grow and one of the most beautiful too. Grow these orchids in bright light but out of direct sunshine. Early morning sun is the best. This orchid will not tolerate hard water, as its more prone to root burns caused by salt built up’s, than other hardier orchids. Water just as the media approaches dryness, but never let it completely dry for more than one day. These hybrids love high humidity.

Please refer plant pictures for size reference.
