Epidendrum schlechterianum is an orchid species native to countries in Central America, such as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the West Indies, Suriname, Brazil, and Peru. Parts of its habitat include mossy rocks and trees in both humid and dry forests. It is a miniature-sized, hot-growing species of epiphyte or occasional lithophyte, blooming in the spring and summer. Short inflorescence of 2 erect flowers which do not open fully, but still appear large in relation to the size of the plant. Its colors vary from yellow-green to reddish-green, brown-green, green with pink admixture, and pale pink-purple.
