Short Description: Cattleya bowringiana var. red sp. is a cattleya species orchid. This species is used to produce hybrid cattleya orchids. A dark pink/red coloured form of this species. Cattleya bowringiana is native to Central America in the countries of Belize and Guatemala and, along with C. skinneri, is the most northern growing of the Cat-tleya species. Cattleya bowringiana is a very adaptable cattleya. It can be found growing as a lithophyte on rocks in full sun. It is found growing as a terrestrial orchid on quartzy sand along flowing streams, and, as a typical epiphyte, on large tropical trees. it is one of the most popular Cattleya species in cultivation.
