Description

Aerides falcata also called "The Sickle-Shaped Aerides"Aerides falcata is found in the eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. This Aerides blooms in the spring and summer on a  long, loosely or densely flowered, pendant inflorescence with to 25-30 fragrant, waxy flowers. The flava form is beautiful which bears yellow & white fragrant flowers.

The word "Aerides" is also the common name of the "Tower of the Winds" in Athens, Greece. The name of the genus refers to the epiphytic growth habit of the species and literally means "air-plant"

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchids must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Saturate the roots with water every time you water them, which means the roots should turn green and retain a drop of water at the tip. Watering of these Vandas must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns ( top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot.

There could be black/brown marking on the old leaves which are only physical bruises from import packing and handling. A few Lower leaves are yellow in colour, which could drop eventually.
