Description

Vanda (Asco.) miniatum sp. is a stunning species of orchid found in Assam, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Java, Malaysia, Philippines, and Sumatra. Formerly known as Ascocentrum miniatum, this species is now called Vanda miniata and features superb, bright yellow-orange flowers densely placed on the inflorescence. This is a miniature species, making it an ideal choice for even the smallest of garden spaces.

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchid roots must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Watering of this vandaceous species must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns (top leafs), a condition that can cause crown rot.
