Description
Ascocenda Princess Mikasa Blue is a hybrid vanda orchid plant. This orchid is a nice blue color. Perhaps one of the true blue of the Vanda hybrids. Flowers have slight tessellation. Very striking color. Ascocenda, with good care, can bloom even easier than Vanda several times a year. They bloom twice or sometimes three times a year with long lasting flowers. They are usually slightly smaller-flowered than Vanda, but have more flowers on a stem.
These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchids must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Watering of this vandaceous species must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns (top leafs), a condition that can cause crown rot. Watering should be regular, every day, allow the roots to dry a bit between watering.
